The ICOS Science Conference 2026 takes place from 15 to 17 September 2026 at AF-Borgen in Lund, Sweden, and online. The conference convenes the international community working on greenhouse gas observations, atmospheric and ecosystem science, ocean carbon, and integrated climate research, under the theme “Science, Data, Services: Together for Climate Action.”
The biennial conference is ICOS’s flagship scientific gathering, drawing researchers, data users, and policy stakeholders working with ICOS data and adjacent infrastructures. The 2024 edition in Versailles attracted more than 600 participants across all three days.
The 2026 programme spans atmospheric measurements, ecosystem flux observations, ocean greenhouse gas tracking, urban emissions, integration with remote sensing and modelling, and the role of integrated observations in supporting national emissions reporting. The full list of session themes is available on the ICOS sessions page.
The Call for Abstracts closed earlier in 2026. Registration opens in May 2026 through the conference website.
The conference is co-organised by ICOS ERIC, Lund University, and the ICOS Carbon Portal.
For GERI partners and the broader ecosystem research community, ICOS2026SC offers a forum to engage with the largest standardised greenhouse gas observation network in Europe, share methods, and explore cross-RI collaborations on data harmonisation and integrated reporting.
